i’m sitting here, the night before/morning of leaving for new york for the independent fashion bloggers conference and mercedes-benz fashion week. i’m a bundle of nerves and excitement as i desperately try to pack for 10 days. in an effort to refocus and remain calm, i’m doing what feels most comforting right now: blogging one last outfit post before i leave. the tone of my blog will probably change just a bit while i’m in NY blogging about the runway shows. some of you might be really interested to read about it, and others might not. don’t worry, when i get back i’ll return to regular programming. i’m so thankful to have such an amazing opportunity to witness such inspiring fashion in person, and i hope you like reading about it too. in the meantime, here’s a familiar post before the craziness of NYFW takes over. this outfit very much embodies my style: feminine, tailored, and with touches of whimsy and edge. it includes all staples that i’m bringing with me on my trip. from the faux fur sleeves of the tweed jacket to the quintessential black cigarette pant, i get a ton of use out of all of these items. my beautiful hand-crafted red flower headband is from courtney of inez gill, who was sweet enough to make some custom pieces for me to take to NY {look for those in future outfit posts!}. my readers, i’m so excited to share my journey to NY with you– your excitement, support, and words of encouragement are more appreciated than i can ever express. follow along here on the blog, and for behind-the-scenes {probably constant!} updates you can find me on twitter / instagram / tumblr / Facebook / and the new vine video app {if it’s working} at sequined silver lining. please keep me company and join me on my trip via social media– it means so much more to have you along. i’ll see you in NYC!
