the rebecca minkoff FW2013 show was one of the collections that i was most excited to see {i’m a HUGE fan}, and it was even more amazing than i imagined. i fell in love with the entire production. the live band absolutely set the tone for the fun, upbeat, modern collection. it was exciting from start to finish: the textures, the colors, and the silhouettes were fresh and unique. i especially loved the dashes of chartreuse, sunshine yellow, cerulean blue, teal, and red, amongst an otherwise neutral palette of black, white, gray, tan, navy and olive. the black and white combinations were perfectly punctuated by the bright, sunny colors. beanies made an appearance again, and i am pretty sure RM solidified her status as queen of the “cool girl coat”– i wanted every single one of the jackets/coats that came down the runway, and i can guarantee they caught the eyes of the other bloggers in the room {which, by the way, was almost every blogger i’ve ever read. us bloggers love our RM!}. and then there were the bags and shoes. ooooohhhhh, the bags and shoes. seriously, who makes a better “it bag” or “it shoe” for the “it girl”? what i love most about rebecca’s collections are the details: a drape here, a pleat there, a lining, a buckle, a closure, a stud– everything is thought out to perfection. there’s always an unexpected element to the look that catches your attention and holds it. when there is so much detail going on with the clothing and accessories, it was brilliant to keep the hair stick straight with a center part. there was one perfect sunshine yellow dress that stole my heart {look at the back!}. what a dream moment it was for me to attend rebecca minkoff’s show– i cannot wait to go back another season.

nicole miller was such a cool downtown menswear-inspired collection that really surprised me– in a good way. her show was entitled “menswear with a twist: raiding the boyfriend’s closet.” this theme was so well executed: a perfect blend of soft and tough, girl and boy, sweet and edge. being obsessed with juxtaposition, this collection spoke to me. the cutting-edge cool mixed with feminine tailoring was a fresh perspective that changed my previous resistance to menswear. i’ve always felt that it was a little too masculine for me, as i’m such a girly-girl, but the way that it was tailored and feminine yet included nods to masculine influences– it made me think i could do this. and the way the models rocked the hats borrowed from the gentlemen didn’t hurt either. hats are so huge this season. i loved the variety of silhouettes, patterns and colors, and the overall moody, brooding vibe was addicting. consider me completely sold on nicole miller!

Nice collection of images! You have beautiful taste.

Can’t believe NYFW was already a few weeks ago… looking forward to Paris, now – we are sure you are, too.
